Put away these brooms.

Although the Golden State Warriors seemed nice within the first three video games in opposition to the Denver Nuggets, the identical can’t be mentioned for his or her closing sport. After holding the Nuggets underneath 120 within the first trio of video games, the Warriors gave up 126 to the Nuggets and misplaced 126-121. The loss permits the collection to return to San Francisco for Game 5.

The loss snapped an eight-game profitable streak, together with the tip of the common season. It was the primary loss suffered by the Dubs within the month of April.

“We had our opportunities. Really proud of the guys for the effort,” says coach Steve Kerr after the sport. “They actually fought and gave themselves an opportunity. But I assumed they began too late. We had a really poor first half. Between the fouls and the turnovers, I believe we had 11 or 10 turnovers at halftime or perhaps extra. It took us a very long time to get going tonight.”

The Warriors spent the entire game trying to get out of deep holes. Trailing by as much as 17 points in the second quarter and nine points entering the final frame, the Dubs managed to claw and crawl to take a 121-119 lead with 1:21 remaining in the game. However, it was too much to get over, as his sloppy play all night derailed the Warriors at the chance to send the Nuggets packing.

Green speaks ill of the Warriors’ defense, but takes responsibility

“Our men’s defense was pretty bad tonight and that fails me,” Green tells the media after Game 4. “I have to be better there. I can’t leave the game due to fouls. Loss cuts on long rest

Had the Warriors swept the Nuggets, the Dubs could have potentially enjoyed at least a six-day bye until their second-round matchup. Steph Curry and others could definitely have used the extra days off to recover more from their ailments.

With the Memphis Grizzles and Minnesota Timberwolves in a 2-2 dogfight, the Dubs will likely be waiting for the winner of that series.

It would have given the coaching staff and scouts plenty of time to prepare for either opponent, especially with how fast and athletic both teams play compared to the Nuggets. The Dubs will likely have to tweak their rotations against those teams, as they have more length and depth than the ones the Dubs faced with the Nuggets.

It probably won’t be the end of the world though. As easy as the first two wins were, the Warriors didn’t have much to do with adjustments. Now, with the loss, he at least presents the team with more footage of the game that they can review and correct. Their turnovers (15) and fouls (27) are something they’ll want to minimize, especially when facing tougher opponents in the later rounds.
